Langtang Valley Trek.

Nepal Langtang trekking combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang, with the high mountain lakes at Gosainkund and the beautiful Helambu Valley. Visit the beautiful Langtang National park and then trek to the end of the valley to view the wonderful ice flutes of Gyangchempo.

Following the Trisuli River north out of Kathmandu, we travel through Trashuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Syabrubensi, a Sherpa village located at the very edge of the Langtang National Park. We then swing east into the Langtang valley, crossing the river several times as we travel up along a gorge-like, lower section of the valley. We pass through oak and rhododendron forests and even cross glacial moraine on our way to the Tamang village of Langtang.

A little further up the valley is Kyangin Gompa, where we stop overnight and sample the local yak cheese. We pass through Nubamatang, nestled in a hidden valley, on our way up to view the glaciers, which mark the gateway into Tibet. Backtracking, we travel through Syabru and Sing Gompa to a high plateau, where the sacred lake Gosainkund is located. Crossing the Llaurebena Pass (4610m), we continue south, leaving the Langtang region behind us as we travel through the Helambu valley to Gul Bhanjyang. From here it's just a few days trek back to Kathmandu.

Trek: Moderate
Season: Spring/Autumn
Starting Alt: 1950m
Maximum Alt: 3960m

We climb through beautiful Chir and Blue pine forest before we reach at Syabru. After crossing the Langtang Khola, we start our climbing up to the Langtang valley through excellent forest, magnificent views are seen from Kyanging Gompa. After decending to Gompa and Syabru we ascend through fir and rhododendron forest to see Gompa. A steep rugged trail with dramatic views until we reach the Holy lakes of Gosainkund. On reaching Pati pass (4602m), we descend to Tharipatin and then Bhanjyang and Chisopani, with its panoramic views from the Ganesh to Everest. Langtang valley Trek - Kathmandu-Dhunche-Kyangin Gopa-Kathmandu

Day 01 : Kathmandu-Dhunche. About 45 minutes out of Kathmandu you pass through the town of Kakani from Where you can see the views of the Ganesh Himal, a groping of peaks only partially visible from Kathmandu. Trisuli, name of a place kept from a river, is a busy market town, offen called Trisuli bazzar. The river, which flows southwest, is very popular with rafting companies between Trisuli and Dhunche. You will be required to show your trekking permit at least once or possibly twice.

Dhunch 6400ft /1951m is an attractive village with large stone house. The older path of the village is below the road and is completely hidden by newly constructed buildings alongside the road. Here you will find several lodges. Be sure to take time to explore the narrow, winding stone footpaths of old Dhunche.

Day 02 : Dhunche - Sybru. The first 90 minutes stretch of this day is clearly visible from Dhunche, It is the road that angles across the far side of the valley to the north of the town. Luckily there is a little traffic on this road and it follows the gravel road out of town heading north. Further ahead and below lies the village there is a ridge 7550ft smaller than Dhunche but yet uniquely attractive passing though this village there is a ridge 7550fty where you could spend some time resting. On entering the Lantang valley there are views of Ganesh Himal to the west Tibet to the north and Langtang Lirung to the East. After an hour you will also be able to see the village of Syabru 7000ft/2134m. Syabru makes a much more interesting place to spend the night.

Day 03: Syabru-Lama Hotel. Descend through the village of Syabru and continue down the ridge until you come to a trail to the east that drops sharply off the ridge and goes through dense forest. After rounding the ridge you will come to a teahouse, beyond which the trail suddenly begins a steep and slippery descent to the floor of the Langtang Khola Valley. The valley which runs east west at this point is very narrow and rarely receives much sunlight on the south bank, which is where the trail is located. The trail begins climbing up from the river at this point, passing through Rimche and in an hour shortly after the trail levels off at 7800ft.you join the trail from Sherpagaun and Syabrubesi. Another hour from here the junction brings you to the tiny village of Chongong 7800ft where there are several lodges including the Lama hotel (Name of the spot) you can stop here for a night rest.

Day 04 : Lama Hotel -Langtang Village. It takes 7 hours to reach Langtang village from Lama Hotel. This trail climbs steadily to Ghora Tabela with glimpses of Langtang Lirung 23767ft/7224m through the trees. At Ghora Tabela once a Tibetan re-settlement camp is a good place where you can lunch or stop for the day. Continuing further and passing through Thangshyap 10750ft the trail will steadily climb up to Langtang village 11475ft/3498m. Langtang is a Tamang village with several lodges where you might want to rest.

Day 05 : Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa. The valley here is U shaped which is carved by glacier. Leaving Langtang you climb gradually to a Chorten behind which are several very long Mani wall. You will cross several streams and a moraine before arriving at Kyanjin Gompa the view gets better and better. Kyanjin Gompa is the small Buddhist monastery. You have choice to spend one extra day exploring in an around Kuanjin Gumpa.

Day 06 : Kyanjin Gompa- Lama Hotel. In a short walk from Kyanjin Gompa you should be able to reach Lama Hotel. If you, reach Lama hotel by lunch and don't feel like stopping so early. You can consider continuing to and slide a tiny hamlet clause by Syabru.

Day 07 : Lama Hotel -Dhunche. Beyond lama Hotel there are several possible routes, depending on where you are headed and how much time you have. Tourist in Syabru Besi, take the old trail that forks off the main trail a Rimche, 15 minutes below Lama Hotel. This trail gives you breathtaking views. An alternative route takes about 2 hours less than the old route.

Day 08 : Dhunche- Kathmandu. At the Sun shine, you will arrive in Dhunche or Syabrubesi it is too late to catch a bus to Trisuli, You will have to spend the night in town and take the bus the next morning.
